How would you like to introduce yourself to the Hospitality Industry?
I’m the head Barman at the Oberoi Gurgaon.
Tell us about your family background as well as school life?
My father is an entrepreneur and mother is a housewife. No one in my family drinks or like alcohol. School was great. I am a pass out from DAV Public School – Vikaspuri. I had no plans of being a bartender at school.
How was your life at IHM Bhopal?
I enjoyed my life at IHM. I didn’t drink there and started my passion for cocktails by just learning about it and I got support from my friends and family in pursuing my passion.
Why did you decide to become a Bartender?
Because I loved watching bar videos and always wanted to try some innovation and open a bar of my own.
Which was the first property you joined?
The first property I joined was the Leela Ambience – Gurgaon. I was a poolside waiter there for eight months.
Now you are working at the Oberoi – Gurgaon as a head bartender. So how is your experience there and what things make the Oberoi different from other hotels?
Oberoi’s service, it’s supportive managers, and especially my manager Nikhil is very much supportive of everything and love to try my cocktails.
What was the funniest incident of your life at the Bar?
My shaker got stuck and no one was able to open it. Not even the guest. 😂
What are the skills required to become a Bartender?
Passion and respect towards your work. Teach and train everything to everyone.
Is the Bartender course compulsory for becoming a Bartender?
No, but one should be a good learner and grasp as much knowledge as possible from everything. Like from books and people he knows and gets an innovative mind.
What is your message student willing to join the Bar?
Show your skills, because it is the only thing which pays your bills. All the very best students.
