The office timings are from 10 AM to 6 PM. However, these timings are not really strict. Some of the interns used to come even around 11 AM. The internship duration is of 4 weeks minimum.

Application process

Infrastructure and environment at the office; team strength

Maheshwari & Co. is a decent law firm having a team of 10-12 associates. Infrastructure is good; building is spacious, a nice library having good collection of books, legal journals etc.

Main task

Interns were given a daily task which they had to complete by the end of the day and mail it back. Apart from the daily tasks, interns were also given a topic on which they had to prepare a presentation. This presentation was supposed to be given by the intern to anyone of the associates in the third week of his internship. I was given the topic “Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) and FDI in LLP”.

Overall experience; pros & cons

Apart from the main office, the firm has another building on the other side of the road. All the interns are required to sit there and work. However, the infrastructure of the other building is not as good as of the main office. Associates there were of helping nature and sorted every problem, which interns faced in their work.

I was guided by Mr Sudhir Kalra, who is a senior associate and a great mentor at the firm. Then there were Shweta ma’am and Ashish Sir who also helped all the interns working there. Good Things: Maheshwari & Co., being a mediocre level law firm, I must say, is a must go for a first timer.

An intern can work in either the corporate or the litigation team of the firm. An intern can also request associates to go with them to the district court, NCLT, High Court, etc. One, interning at Maheshwari & Co., gets to learn the proper method of researching and drafting.

Lastly, you get tea two times a day on your desk, which in the month of January is really soothing. Bad Things: As I mentioned that interning at Maheshwari & Co. is a good to go for the first timers, I feel that it’s not a place for 4th or 5th-year students to intern.

The firm does not give you sufficient work and more often you have to ask them for work through a mail. I remember that some of my co-interns used to play FIFA during the office hours as they had no work to do.
