About (Indian Army J.C.O Catering)

One of the famous stereotype regarding joining Indian Army is, you have to have mathematical background. But if you are a graduate in Hotel Management then you can also join Indian Army as Junior Commissioned Officer in catering. The perks and allowance of this post is very enticing, an average graduate can make more money by joining Indian Army than by joining hotel industry.

The salary attached to this post ranges somewhere from INR 30,000 to 50,000 monthly, and that not all.  In addition you will be entitled to DA, free accommodation, entitled ration for self, uniform, free medical and leave travel concession for self, family and dependents, canteen facilities and other allowances as admissible to the regular Army.

Eligibility

  1. Age Limit for Indian Army JCO Catering : 21 to 27 years as on first day of Recruitment Rally.
  2. Indian Army JCO Catering Educational Qualifications :
    1. 10 +2 or equivalent from any education board recognized by Council of Board of School Education in India. Candidates should have working knowledge of either English or Hindi or both.
    2. Diploma / Certificate course of a duration of one year or more in Cookery / Hotel Management and Catering Technology from a recognized University Food Craft Institute. AICTE recognition is not mandatory.

Medical Standards

A candidate should have robust physique and good mental health. Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 Cms expansion. Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye.

Colour vision should be CP-III. Should recognize red and green colours. Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points. Should not have disease like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocle or piles.

Physical Fitness Tests 

To determine the Physical Fitness, the following tests carrying 100 marks are held:-

  • 1 Mile Run
  •  Pull Ups
  •  Balance
  •  9 Feet Ditch

Procedure for Application

Indian Army JCO Catering Written Examination

Submission of form – Candidates should submit their Application Form duly filled as per the format along with all required documents duly superscribed “Application for Junior Commissioned Officer ( Catering )” on the top outer cover of the envelope to Army Supply Corps Centre and College ( South ), Post – Agram, Bangalore, Pin – 560 007.  Application forwarded to any other address / HQ Rtg Zone will be rejected.

Screening – After submission of form, candidates will be asked to report for screening test. All the physical test like running, jumping etc, will be conducted at this level.

Written test – Only those candidates selected in the screening will be permitted to appear in the written examination. The written examination is of two hours. The exam comprises one composite question paper of 100 marks. Minimum pass marks is 40. The paper generally comprises of questions on IQ, Numerical ability, general knowledge and current affairs.

Interview – The selected candidate from the written test will be called for interview. Based on their interview they will be shortlisted.

Medical Test – The candidates selected from the interview round will go through medical test.
