Professor T. T. Sreekumar in a Facebook post, yesterday, claimed that the CPIM [Communist Party of India (Marxist)] government in Kerala is also resorting to an ugly imperialist/RSS [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh] tactics of calling the agitators “Islamic Terrorists” since a majority of the local people in the area belong to the Muslim community.

He uploaded a picture [the feature image of this story] to Facebook and wrote:

This image will stay and haunt the powers that be for a long time to come.

The local people resisting a blatant move by the government to lay pipelines to transport natural gas through thickly populated areas in Kerala, offered prayer on the site of the agitation while the police expected them to disburse to the nearby Mosque clearing the way for inspection/trenching of the work site.

The whole issue is enmeshed in controversy since the ruling CPIM in Kerala had opposed the installation of pipes through residential areas while they were in the opposition.

They are now accused of succumbing to corporate/central government interests in changing their earlier stand. It has now become clear that nobody opposes the laying of the pipeline but as CPIM did in the past, everyone is still resisting the unlawful attempt to encroach private residential lands for trenching and installation of the pipelines.

The CPIM government, ever since it came to power, has been using brutal Police force against local people who agitate against its anti-people policies. The CPIM government is also resorting to an ugly imperialist/RSS tactics of calling the agitators “Islamic Terrorists” since a majority of the local people in the area belong to the Muslim community.
