In a shameless display of sexual harassment at workplace, a security manager at a five-star hotel made sexual advances on a woman employee and tried to force her into having sex with him. When the woman refused to listen to his advances he tried to remove that woman’s saree forcibly in front of the team leader at the hotel Pride Plaza, while the woman tried to prevent him from disrobing.
Video Captured on CCTV
The entire incident was recorded on hotel’s CCTV footage where the security manager was seen conversing with that woman and later tries to remove her saree in front of another male staff. The footage was later obtained by a fellow team leader on woman’s request. Later, hotel management threw both woman and team leader from jobs without giving any proper reasons, as victim alleges.
The woman has filed a complaint at IGI Airport police station and the DCP (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia has confirmed that a FIR has been lodged in the case under section 354, 354 (a), 354(b) and 354 (d). The police will now be looking into the CCTV footage and have roped in the forensic teams to look into the footage. So far the accused has not been arrested.
Speaking to The Indian Express, the 33-year-old woman said the incident took place on July 29. “It was my birthday. He called me to the CTV room in the hotel and asked me if I wanted a gift. I refused any gifts from him. He took out his credit card and kept insisting that I take a gift from him. He then asked me to sit and when I did not he pulled me towards him by my saree and tried to disrobe me,” the woman said.
The woman has alleged that the accused kept mounting pressure on her to get into a physical relationship with him. “All this was taking place in front of a team leader and he did nothing and stood by and watched,” she said.
The woman later managed to pull herself from his control and left the room after another staff member came in. She left the hotel and reached IBIS hotel, where the accused followed her in his car and pulled down the glass window and grabbed her by the hand and kept insisting her to sit inside his car. “I somehow managed to get free myself and get to Delhi Aerocity metro station where I called up my HR Assistant Manager and told him about the entire incident. Later on August 1 as well I complained against him to the hotel, I was scared,” she said.
The Victim got fired from the hotel – Pride Plaza
The woman took help from team leader from the same hotel and obtained the CCTV footage as evidence. On Thursday, when she reported for work, she was asked to meet the HR department where she was served the termination notice, which she refuses to accept and leaves the notice lying on the table. “I come from a poor family. My husband does not earn much and I have two children. I wanted to work for a decent living and not be forced to sell myself. I am terrified for my children now,” the woman said.
